Walter the Skating Penguin + Using Pigment Ink On Kraft Card

Today, we have a new challenge starting over at Moving Along With The Times which is very appropriate for the time of year. This fortnights theme is “Anything Goes With Christmas” and will end on the 4th December so make sure to get your entries in before then if you would like to take part. This Penguin stamp from Purple Onion Designs is one of my absolute favourites – I think he’s so cute! I stamped him onto hot pressed watercolour paper with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink before colouring him with watercolour pencils. I cut the Penguin out using the 4th largest Lil’ Inkers Designs Dual Stitched Mat Circle and created a mat with some vellum using the 3th largest of the circle dies.

To create the panel, I cut the largest My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle die from kraft card and used Dovecrafts Krafty Christmas Snowflake embossing folder. I added a light green panel behind with some foam for a bit of extra dimension. The sentiment was taken from the docrafts Wellington Christmas Bedtime set and, after stamping, matted with some red card.

After assembling the card, I felt it looked quite plain, so blended some of Mama Elephant Moonlight ink over the Gourmet Rubber Stamps Chevron Stencil – this ink looks so effective when stamped or blended onto a darker cardstock as it is a pigment ink, meaning it sits ontop of the paper and stands out beautifully. To finish off the card, I wound some red twine around the card base.
