Using Larger Images as Background Stamps with Inspired By Stamping

Hello I’m so happy to be here with my second post as a Guest Designer for Inspired By Stamping! As I mentioned in my previous post, I am a 21 year old bedbound crafter who loves card making, painting and music (often combing the three) and creating has become a form of Physiotherapy. I live… Continue reading Using Larger Images as Background Stamps with Inspired By Stamping

Video: Adding Subtle Glitter + Tips for Using an Intricate Stencil

Hello!
Today, I have another video for you! Whenever I thought about using glitter, I always thought of the cards where there is a lot and, as a person who isn’t very “into” glitter, I kind of steered clear. However, after watching a video about using glitter on cards from Julia Altermann about a month ago, I realised that glitter, in the right place and amount, could look quite subtle and pretty.

I’ve also learned that by using glossy accents to adhere the glitter, it grabs onto the glitter and once the excess is brushed away, the rest doesn’t budge as glossy accents is such a strong glue. And, because it dries 3D, along with the glitter, it helps add a little dimension to the card.

I’ll be entering this card into the following challenges: Addicted To Stamps “CAS“, Sasayaki Glitter “CAS“, Marvelous Magnolia “Flowers“, and Aurora Wings Challenge “Tic-Tac-Toe” [Thread, Yarn or String – Flowers – Sentiment].

Video: Using Foam to Add Colour + Sizzix Butterflies

Hello all! I have another video for you, today, with butterflies galore! I’m also going to be using brightly coloured foam to add colour to this, otherwise, quite plain card. It’s been something I’ve been doing a lot more in the cards that I’ve been making recently and I have no doubt that it will… Continue reading Video: Using Foam to Add Colour + Sizzix Butterflies

Video: Embossing with Dies

Hello fellow crafters!

Today, I have exciting news! More exciting news – how on Earth do you cope 😉 Today, I have published a video (my very first!) on my YouTube channel! (Can you tell how excited I am from the sheer number of exclamation marks I’m using?) Anyway, I have been thinking about doing a video before but been a bit hesitant (I’m not really keen on the sound of my voice – but is anyone?)

For todays card, I embossed the largest My favourite Things Pierced Rectangle die into an A6 Kraft card base with the Spellbinders embossing tan mat. I think that this is a great way to add a little interest to a one layer card whilst keeping it clean and simple.

I then stamped the cupcake image from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Blueprints 1 set in Versa Fine Onyx Black ink, which did bleed slightly but I think that was down to the very textured card I used and the fact the image had very fine lines.  I also stamped the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Hero Arts Many Everyday Messages – this was once joined together, however, Emma’s scissors took a liking to them, so they can now be stacked!

I used coloured pencils to colour the image – the way I blended the pencil is by simply adding layers of the colour beginning with the shadow and working my way to the highlight until I get a smooth gradient.

I’m also going to be entering this card into these challenges: Creative with Stamps “Manly/ Masculine Card“, Stempelgarten Challenge “A Card for a Man“, Catch the Bug “Masculine“, Craft for the Craic “Something Masculine“, Morgan’s Art World “Happy Birthday“, QKR Stampede “One for the Guys” and Craft Rocket Challenges “For a Man or Boy“.

Take a look at the video and let me know what you think (obviously, only if you’d like to 😉 )
