How to Create a Scene Around a Stamp

Hello!   Today, I have a very adorable card using one of my favourite stamps, which is from Purple Onion Designs. I love the illustrated style, especially, of the Stacy Yaccula range – I thought this beautiful stamp, “Jackson the Bear”, would be perfect for my cousin who is turning 5 in, as he calls it, “tep-tember”.… Continue reading How to Create a Scene Around a Stamp

Video: Using Foam to Add Colour + Sizzix Butterflies

Hello all! I have another video for you, today, with butterflies galore! I’m also going to be using brightly coloured foam to add colour to this, otherwise, quite plain card. It’s been something I’ve been doing a lot more in the cards that I’ve been making recently and I have no doubt that it will… Continue reading Video: Using Foam to Add Colour + Sizzix Butterflies

Creating a Scene Inside an Embossed Frame

Hello! Today, is the beginning of a new Moving Along With The Times challenge; this fortnights theme is “No Design Papers”. I did go a little extreme with this clean and simple card, however, I really enjoy just stamping an image and embossing a frame around it, as you can probably tell from my previous… Continue reading Creating a Scene Inside an Embossed Frame

Video: Embossing with Dies

Hello fellow crafters!

Today, I have exciting news! More exciting news – how on Earth do you cope 😉 Today, I have published a video (my very first!) on my YouTube channel! (Can you tell how excited I am from the sheer number of exclamation marks I’m using?) Anyway, I have been thinking about doing a video before but been a bit hesitant (I’m not really keen on the sound of my voice – but is anyone?)

For todays card, I embossed the largest My favourite Things Pierced Rectangle die into an A6 Kraft card base with the Spellbinders embossing tan mat. I think that this is a great way to add a little interest to a one layer card whilst keeping it clean and simple.

I then stamped the cupcake image from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Blueprints 1 set in Versa Fine Onyx Black ink, which did bleed slightly but I think that was down to the very textured card I used and the fact the image had very fine lines.  I also stamped the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from the Hero Arts Many Everyday Messages – this was once joined together, however, Emma’s scissors took a liking to them, so they can now be stacked!

Embossing with Dies (3)

I used coloured pencils to colour the image – the way I blended the pencil is by simply adding layers of the colour beginning with the shadow and working my way to the highlight until I get a smooth gradient.

I’m also going to be entering this card into these challenges: Creative with Stamps “Manly/ Masculine Card“, Stempelgarten Challenge “A Card for a Man“, Catch the Bug “Masculine“, Craft for the Craic “Something Masculine“, Morgan’s Art World “Happy Birthday“, QKR Stampede “One for the Guys” and Craft Rocket Challenges “For a Man or Boy“.

Take a look at the video and let me know what you think (obviously, only if you’d like to 😉 )

Resisting Watercolour with Masking Fluid

Hello, I was looking through my card stash recently and found there was a serious lack in ‘male-ish’ cards. So, after getting a couple of new products last week along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge with the theme of ‘Resist’; this card was created. I took a piece of Daler and Rowney Extra Smooth… Continue reading Resisting Watercolour with Masking Fluid
